A hub or cluster of vendors/shops/stalls selling popular street foods, 80% or more of which represents local and regional cuisines, and meets the basic hygiene and sanitary requirements.
These clusters of street food vendors would be certified through a process of initial audit to identify gaps, improvement through hand-holding and training of vendors, final audit for verification, and thereafter sustenance through routine inspections and testing.
Objective
Aims to raise the quality of street food vending to the level of food courts and established hotels and restaurants.
This will build trust among consumers to have a safe and hygienic local eating experience.
Key Features
Clusters of vendors in an authorized food vending zone having access to common facilities
Licensing and Registration under FSSA, 2006 for all vendors under the cluster
State FDA officials and FSSAI-empanelled auditing agencies jointly conduct the first audit of vendors and the overall hub conditions
All food handlers engaged will be trained under FoSTaC
State FDA will send recommendation for certification of hub as “Clean Street Food Hub” after ensuring 80% compliance in the first audit, followed by training
Second audit required where 80% benchmarks are not met in the first audit; conducted once gaps identified are complied with
Certificate issued for two years
During this period, local FSO will conduct inspections and random sampling based on risk at a frequency of six months
Certificate will be renewed after verification audit one month before expiry
